The focus of this week-end seminar is strictly on the gospel of righteousness by faith, both justification and sanctification. The entire week end is based on my book Forever His: How to have a joyful and unbroken relationship with Jesus. Both the book and my presentations are ideally suited for non-Adventists. I encourage churches to advertise the week end in the community, and I encourage church members to invite their non-Adventist friends and relatives to attend.

Friday night, 7:30 to 8:30

The title of Friday night's presentation is "The Faith of Abraham." It is based on Romans 4. I show that Abraham's faith, which appears so weak when we read the story in Genesis, was actually a very powerful faith. This is good news for struggling sinners who think that if they "just had more faith," they would be acceptable to God. Our faith can seem to be very weak, but if it comes through the tough times still believing, it is actually a very strong faith.

Sabbath morning 11:00

The focus of this presentation is justification. The title, "Declared Righteous," summarizes its focus: Since we have no righteousness of our own to offer God, and since we cannot develop any righteousness of our own that will be acceptable to Him regardless of how hard we try, He gives us His righteousness and declares us to be righteous--and this in spite of the fact that we still have many sins and character defects to overcome. This presentation includes a live illustration that everyone will remember for a long, long time.

Sabbath afternoon

From 2:00 to 3:00--"The Key to Victory." This presentation is based on Romans 6:1-14. Paul begins this chapter by showing that conversion is essential to living a new life in Christ. Then he shows how conversion breaks our slavery to sin, which in modern terms is called "addiction." Christians sometimes call this slavery cherished or besetting sin. Paul gives three practical suggestions for dealing with these sins, and verse 14 concludes with they key to victory.

From 3:15 to 4:30--"Life in the Spirit." The man of Romans 7:14-25 is desperate for a victory over sin that seems just beyond his grasp. So how does God relate to him? How does God relate to any Christian who falls into sin? Do we break our relationship with Jesus when we stumble and fall? A careful examination of Romans 7:14 to 8:11 is good news for struggling sinners who wonder whether Jesus still accepts them.
